Turkey expands renewable energy capacity and solar integration

Turkey is expanding its renewable energy investment roadmap through new capacity allocations and offshore wind projects. A significant development involves energy cooperation between Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Following an initial agreement for 2,000 MW of renewable energy projects, plans are underway to add an additional 3,000 MW of capacity, aiming for a total investment volume of 5,000 MW between the two nations. Minister Alparslan Bayraktar indicated that progress on this new 3,000 MW agreement is planned to coincide with the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP) process.

In parallel, there is a shift toward integrating solar energy systems (GES) directly into the architectural and electrical design phases of new constructions. Rather than being treated as afterthoughts, solar systems are being incorporated into the project stage for commercial buildings, industrial facilities, hotels, and mass housing. This approach includes evaluating roof capacity, static suitability, DC/AC infrastructure, energy storage needs, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure to increase technical and economic efficiency.
