Turkey expands rural road infrastructure in Hakkâri and Kars

Local administrations in Turkey are advancing rural infrastructure projects through significant asphalt road construction in the Hakkâri and Kars provinces.

In Hakkâri’s Şemdinli district, the Hakkâri Special Provincial Administration has completed 4 kilometers of a 6-kilometer hot asphalt project connecting Tekeli (Gare) Village with the settlements of Tanyolu, Gelêşim, Oğlaklı, and Meleyan. The project aims to resolve long-standing transportation issues and reduce dust, which has negatively impacted local residents, particularly those involved in agriculture and fruit orchards.

In Kars, the Kars Special Provincial Administration has finalized 14.6 kilometers of asphalt road works in the Arpaçay district. This includes an 8.5-kilometer section on the Gülyüzü-Bozyiğit-Taşköprü route and a 6.1-kilometer section for Melikköy village. Officials noted that these improvements are intended to enhance driving comfort, support agricultural and livestock activities, and facilitate rural development by connecting villages more securely to district centers.
