Turkey expands student amnesty, keeps law faculty admission threshold at 125,000

The Turkish parliament's Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Commission approved an amendment to the student amnesty law, extending its scope to include students who previously benefited from the amnesty but did not complete their studies. The change removes the previous distinction and allows all such students to resume or complete their higher‑education programs.

Separately, the Council of State (Danıştay) upheld the Higher Education Council's (YÖK) earlier decision to maintain the admission score bar for law faculties at 125,000 for the 2026 academic year, rejecting a proposal to lower it to 100,000. The ruling confirms that the bar will remain unchanged for law programs while other faculties are unaffected.
