Turkey expands trade relations with UK and US
Turkey is reporting significant growth in its bilateral trade relations with both the United Kingdom and the United States.
According to Osman Koray Ertaş, Turkey’s Ambassador to London, trade between Turkey and the UK has exceeded $30 billion. This includes $24 billion in goods and $10 billion in services. The UK serves as Turkey’s second-largest export market, with a trade surplus of $9.5 billion recorded last year. Efforts are underway to expand the scope of the Free Trade Agreement between the two nations.
Separately, Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced ambitious targets for trade with the United States. Following a trade volume of $38.6 billion in 2025, the government aims to reach $50 billion by 2028, with a long-term goal of $100 billion. Bolat also noted that Turkey’s GDP reached $1.6 trillion in 2025, supported by significant foreign direct investment and a robust manufacturing infrastructure.
