Turkey experiences power outages in Balıkesir and Istanbul
Multiple regions in Turkey are experiencing power outages due to infrastructure issues. In Balıkesir, a transformer exploded in the Bahçelievler neighborhood on Lozan Street on Wednesday evening. The explosion caused transformer covers to fly open and led to immediate power cuts. While windy weather may have contributed to the fault, technical investigations by UEDAŞ are ongoing to determine the exact cause. Firefighters and technical teams are working to secure the area and restore service.
In Istanbul, widespread electricity outages have affected more than twenty districts across both the European and Anatolian sides. The outages, managed by BEDAŞ and AYEDAŞ, have impacted residential areas and businesses, including Avcılar, Gaziosmanpaşa, Esenler, Üsküdar, and Kadıköy. Service restoration is expected to occur gradually, with most areas scheduled to regain power between 17:00 and 18:00.
