Turkey e-commerce sector prepares for major November discount period

Turkey's e-commerce market is bracing for a significant surge in activity during the November discount season. Industry experts, including Hakan Çevikoğlu of the Electronic Commerce Operators Association (ETİD), anticipate that the e-commerce volume could reach 600 billion TL during this period, with order numbers expected to rise by 10-15% compared to last year.

Major retailers such as Hepsiburada have already launched campaigns, introducing new financing options like ‘Hepsitaksit’ to facilitate larger purchases. Meanwhile, Amazon has initiated early November deals across various categories including electronics and home goods.

However, consumer advocates, including the Consumer Confederation (TÜKONFED), have issued warnings regarding potential fraud. Experts advise shoppers to be wary of fake discounts where prices are artificially inflated before a sale, as well as counterfeit websites designed to mimic legitimate brands. Recommendations for consumers include using price comparison tools to verify historical pricing, utilizing virtual cards for secure payments, and verifying the official domain names of retailers to avoid phishing scams.
