Turkey Firefighter Education Academy Workshop Plans New Training Standards

A workshop hosted by the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality in Darıca explored the creation of the Turkey Firefighter Education Academy, aiming to raise fire service training to international standards. Participants included municipal officials, representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation, AFAD officials, and fire chiefs from across Turkey’s major cities.

The forum outlined a roadmap for a common curriculum, certification system and inter‑agency cooperation, with backing from Mayor Tahir Büyükakın. Organisers said the academy will usher in a new era of preventative risk management and public‑safety awareness for Turkish firefighters.
