Turkey flood response: Officials call for infrastructure improvements

Following recent heavy rainfall and flooding in Turkey, political leaders are calling for enhanced disaster preparedness and infrastructure upgrades. In Mersin, Anahtar Parti Provincial Chairman Gür Arslanyıkar emphasized the need to inspect stream beds, rainwater lines, and drainage channels across the city's 13 districts. He specifically noted damage to businesses and industrial zones in the coastal areas of Yenişehir and Mezitli, urging local governments to share their disaster prevention plans with the public.

In Istanbul's Şile district, AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir visited flood-affected areas in Ağva and Kumbaba. While noting that no lives were lost, Özdemir highlighted the need for İSKİ to renew local infrastructure to prevent future incidents. He announced that, following instructions from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, damage assessments are being conducted to ensure rapid compensation payments to affected citizens.
