Turkey food safety inspections reveal meat adulteration and quality violations
The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry intensified simultaneous inspections of agricultural production sites and market stalls across the country. In Manisa Province, inspectors examined vineyards for pest control and cherry markets for hygiene and compliance with product standards, aiming to protect growers and consumers and ensure food safety from field to table.
Separate inspections in Ankara uncovered serious irregularities in meat products. Tests identified undeclared poultry meat in a beef sausage, animal bone and organ tissues in ready‑to‑eat kebab, and the use of non‑permitted ingredients in a lahmacun filling. The findings prompted public warnings and highlighted ongoing monitoring of meat and meat‑product establishments in the capital.
