Turkey fuel prices: Diesel hike expected to approach 100 TL

Fuel prices in Turkey are facing significant increases following volatility in global energy markets. After a 3.20 TL increase in gasoline prices on September 12, industry sources report that a substantial hike for diesel is expected on Tuesday, September 15. Estimates for the diesel increase range between 6.62 TL and 7.67 TL per liter.

If these increases are implemented, diesel prices in major cities like Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir are expected to approach or reach the 100 TL per liter threshold. This surge is driven by rising global crude oil prices, with Brent crude trading above 100 dollars per barrel, fueled by geopolitical tensions and attacks on energy infrastructure in the Middle East.

In addition to market-driven price changes, diesel prices will face further upward pressure due to a scheduled increase in Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV). The tax is set to rise incrementally each month through the end of the year, with further increases planned for October, November, and December.
