Turkey faces widespread traffic and utility disruptions

Turkey is experiencing widespread traffic disruptions and utility outages due to scheduled events and infrastructure maintenance.

In Istanbul, the Yeşilay Cycling Tour Half Marathon on Sunday, August 23, will cause significant road closures in the Fatih, Beyoğlu, and Beşiktaş districts starting at 07:00. Major arteries, including the Galata Bridge and parts of the Kennedy Coast Road, will be inaccessible, with authorities recommending alternative routes such as Unkapanı Bridge and Barbaros Boulevard.

Ankara will also see traffic adjustments for the 5th Gran Fondo Başkent cycling race on Sunday, affecting various boulevards and junctions near Bilkent.

Additionally, the General Directorate of Highways has reported extensive roadwork across the country. Maintenance and repair projects are affecting the TEM Highway, İzmir Ring Road, and routes connecting Bursa, Yalova, Ankara, and Kırıkkale. In İzmir, İZSU has announced water outages in several districts, including Foça, Konak, and Urla, due to main pipe failures and network renewal works. Local authorities advise drivers to follow signage and use alternative routes where possible.
