Turkey highway maintenance causes widespread traffic disruptions

Extensive road construction, maintenance, and repair works are causing significant traffic disruptions across several major routes in Turkey, according to data from the General Directorate of Highways.

In Ankara, several key routes are affected. In the Kızılcahamam district, portions of the Kızılcahamam-Çerkeş road and the Gerede-Kızılcahamam-Çeltikçi junction are closed to vehicle traffic, with travel managed via service roads or controlled two-way traffic. Additionally, roadwork on the Ankara-Kahramankazan-Ankara route and the Ankara-Kırıkkale and Ankara-Konya roads has led to lane closures and controlled traffic flow.

Other major highway updates include:

• TEM Highway: Joint repair work at the Molla Gürani Viaduct will involve nighttime lane changes, while asphalt work near the Gaziosmanpaşa Junction will close exit arms during late-night hours. • İzmir-Çeşme Highway: Lighting system revisions will cause nighttime lane closures between the 6. Sanayi and Limontepe junctions. • Ankara-Kırıkkale-Delice Highway: Controlled blasting operations on the Ankara Ring Road will result in brief, 15-minute total closures for traffic traveling between Konya and Istanbul.

Drivers are advised to expect delays and follow controlled traffic directions in these areas.
