Turkey diesel price jump pushes litre above 70 lira
From 10 July 2026 the Turkish government is set to add a 3 TL 10 kurus increase to the litre price of motorin (diesel). The hike follows two earlier raises on 8 July – first 1 TL 33 kurus, then 76 kurus – meaning the total increase in a few days will exceed 5 TL. With the new surcharge the diesel price is projected to reach about 70 lira in Istanbul and over 71 lira in Ankara and İzmir. Gasoline and LPG prices are expected to stay unchanged.
The rise is attributed to higher global oil prices, a weaker Turkish lira and heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Russia, which have tightened worldwide diesel supplies. Analysts warn that the higher fuel cost will affect private motorists, transport firms, logistics and agriculture, adding pressure to product prices across the economy.
