Turkey holds diplomatic meetings with Germany and Hungary

Turkish officials held high-level meetings in Ankara to strengthen bilateral ties with Germany and Hungary. Turkish Labor Minister Vedat Işıkhan met with German Federal Minister Bärbel Bas to launch a joint working group. The discussions focused on strategic partnership areas including qualified labor, fair supply chains, combating child labor, and artificial intelligence applications in social insurance. A new memorandum of intent and a protocol between social security institutions are expected to formalize these cooperation efforts.

Separately, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Anita Orban. Fidan addressed the Mecca Defense Alliance, clarifying that it is a defensive pact intended to support member states under attack rather than an offensive agreement. He noted that the agreement between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey will soon be presented to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Additionally, Orban reaffirmed Hungary’s support for Turkey’s accession to the European Union.
