Turkey hosts Bergama Theatre Festival and Ayızzara cultural gathering in August

The seventh Bergama Theatre Festival will run from 7–9 August in the ancient city of Bergama, Turkey. The three‑day programme features more than 30 events, including theatre productions, concerts, performances, workshops, walks and discussions across historic venues such as Asklepion, Arasta Square and the Odeon of Pergamon. The opening night includes an acoustic concert by Turkish pop singer Gökhan Türkmen for about 2,000 attendees, while the closing night presents DasDas’s staging of Haldun Taner’s classic "Sersem Kocanın Kurnaz Karısı" starring Mert Fırat and Didem Balçın. The festival’s theme is "Change. Try. Mistake. Restart."

On 1 August, the village of Akpınar in Tufanbeyli, Adana, will host the "Ayızzara" gathering. The event will showcase exhibitions, traditional games, music listening sessions, stage performances and dance shows, concluding with a traditional wedding ceremony. Organized by the North Caucasus Cultural Association together with the local Chechen community, the gathering aims to celebrate regional cultural heritage.
