Turkey hosts NATO summit as Erdoğan meets Montenegro PM

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Montenegro Prime Minister Milojko Spajić at the Presidential Palace in Ankara during the NATO Leaders Summit. The two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, defence and security, and examined ways to deepen collaboration within the Balkan Peace Platform, which Turkey founded to promote regional stability.

Japan’s defence minister Shinjiro Koizumi, also attending the summit, made a side visit to Istanbul’s historic Eminönü district. He and his delegation stopped at a fish‑sandwich stall, praised the food as “excellent,” and shared the experience on social media, noting the productive outcome of the NATO meetings.

Both visits underscore the summit’s role in fostering diplomatic dialogue among NATO members and partners, while highlighting cultural exchanges that accompany high‑level meetings.
