Turkey hosts youth sports festivals featuring traditional wrestling and ancient games

In Gaziantep, the Şahinbey Municipality hosted the Okul Sporları Aba Güreşi Turkey Championship at the Traditional Sports Center, drawing 1,316 young wrestlers from 28 cities to compete in traditional oil wrestling. The event highlighted the cultural heritage of the sport and concluded with awards for top performers.

In Kütahya's Aizanoi Ancient City, the Çavdarhisar District together with the Youth and Sports Directorate organized a sports festival for students, erecting various sport courses and traditional games. Officials said the aim was to foster sports awareness and respect for history, targeting 20,000 participants across the province. The festival, now in its second year, also featured messages of support for the national football team.

Both festivals emphasized the promotion of active, healthy lifestyles among Turkish youth while linking modern sport with the country's historic traditions.
