Turkey projected to increase taxes and IMEI fees in 2027

Turkey is preparing for significant increases in taxes, fees, and administrative fines for 2027, driven by the anticipated revaluation rate. Based on current inflation data and the 12-month Producer Price Index (PPI) average, the revaluation rate is projected to be approximately 27% to 28%.

If these estimates hold, several key costs will rise sharply. The IMEI registration fee for mobile phones brought from abroad is expected to climb from 54,258 TL to approximately 69,450 TL. Other projected increases include 10-year passport fees, B-class driver's licenses, Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV), and international departure fees.

Additionally, the reports highlight the implications for consumers using unregistered foreign mobile devices. While users can bypass registration for a limited time—up to 120 days per IMEI, or up to 8 months for dual-SIM/e-SIM devices—failure to pay the registration fee eventually results in the device being blocked from local mobile networks.
