Turkey implements AI-supported mobile radar systems

Turkey is deploying new generation, AI-supported mobile speed detection systems developed with domestic capabilities to enhance traffic safety and reduce accidents caused by speeding. Coordinated by the Presidency of Defense Industries, these advanced devices can monitor vehicles in up to four lanes simultaneously.

A key feature of this technology is its ability to detect the speed of vehicles traveling in the opposite direction, depending on the device's positioning and technical specifications. The systems utilize advanced cameras and image processing to automatically read license plates, transmitting speed and identification data directly to the General Directorate of Police via the PolNet network.

In Bursa, the Provincial Police Department has released specific schedules for radar and speed inspections. These include electronic, fixed, and mobile enforcement across major routes such as the Bursa-Izmir, Bursa-Ankara, and Bursa-Yalova highways, as well as the Istanbul Road and Mudanya Road. Additionally, the Electronic Inspection System (EDS) is being used for average speed monitoring on several routes, including the D200/05 highway and the Kütahya-Bursa highway.
