Turkey implements major traffic insurance reforms
Turkey is implementing significant reforms to its traffic and motor insurance sectors to streamline damage processes and enhance transparency. Under the direction of the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency (SEDDK), several key changes have been introduced.
Adjuster assignments will now be managed through a centralized system to ensure standardization. Additionally, for traffic insurance claims exceeding 40,000 TL, professional adjuster inspections are now mandatory. A major component of this reform is the automatic evaluation of vehicle depreciation; vehicle owners will no longer need to file separate applications, as adjusters will include depreciation calculations in their primary damage reports.
On September 1, the Joint Damage Notification Center (OHİM) will launch, accessible via the ALO 193 hotline. This center will serve as a single entry point for both traffic and motor insurance damage claims, integrating with various insurance companies to speed up processing. Beyond claims, the center will also allow citizens to report illegal activities or unauthorized intermediaries that cause grievances during the insurance process.
