Turkey implements new credit support for small businesses

Turkish public banks are implementing new credit restructuring measures and low-interest loan programs aimed at supporting small businesses and tradespeople. These adjustments to interest rates, credit limits, and repayment terms are being developed through collaborations between the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Halkbank, and TESKOMB to respond to changing economic conditions.

While officials state these measures aim to balance the needs of small businesses with the sustainability of public resources, some economic analysts suggest these moves are part of a broader strategy to provide economic relief through public banks ahead of upcoming elections. Critics argue that the costs of these subsidies and the resulting economic gaps may eventually be covered by taxpayers and through inflation.
