Turkey's Ministry of Education announces school adaptation leave and staff recruitment
The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has announced several measures for the 2026-2027 academic year to support student adaptation and school operations. Under the ‘Family and Population 10-Year’ initiative, public sector employees with children starting preschool, 1st grade, or 5th grade can request up to 3 hours of administrative leave per day between September 7 and 11, 2026. This leave is intended to allow parents to participate in school adaptation programs and strengthen the school-family bond.
To support school infrastructure and security, MEB is collaborating with İŞKUR to recruit 30,000 personnel through Community Benefit Programs (TYP). These roles will cover security, maintenance, cleaning, and landscaping across 81 provinces. Applications for these positions are managed through İŞKUR and e-Devlet platforms.
Psychological experts have also advised parents to prepare children for the new term by gradually adjusting sleep schedules and managing screen time before the official start on September 14, 2026.
