Turkey implements new fuel tax rates via Official Gazette

New regulations published in the Official Gazette on October 1, 2026, include significant changes to Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) rates for certain goods. A key component of these updates is the restructuring of fuel taxes following the termination of the 'eşel mobil' system.

According to economic analysis, gasoline is expected to see a substantial increase. The ÖTV for gasoline is set to rise from 4.44 lira to a fixed amount of 14.83 lira. Including the 20 percent VAT on the tax difference, the total increase is projected to reach 12.47 lira per liter. Diesel is expected to see a total increase of 3.60 lira per liter, consisting of a 3 lira ÖTV increase and 60 kuruş in VAT.

Other administrative decisions published include various expropriation projects for energy and water infrastructure in regions such as Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Batman, Şırnak, and Giresun, as well as personnel appointments and regulations regarding overseas civil servant salaries.
