Turkey implements new social media rules for real estate listings

The Turkish Ministry of Trade has implemented new regulations through the Electronic Advertisement Verification System (EİDS) to govern how real estate listings are shared on social media. The move aims to increase transparency in property trading and prevent unregistered activities.

Under the new rules, real estate professionals must include an official EİDS verification link in all social media posts, including Instagram Reels, posts, and WhatsApp status updates. Furthermore, all details—such as photos, videos, and descriptions—must match the official records in the EİDS platform exactly. Pricing must also be consistent; practices such as stating ‘price available upon request’ or providing different figures than those registered in the system are strictly prohibited.

Failure to comply with these standards will result in significant administrative fines. The Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ALTSO) welcomed the regulation, noting that it resolves previous uncertainties regarding the legality of sharing verified listings on social platforms.
