Turkey Justice Minister Akın Gürlek Announces New Extradition Drive for FETÖ Members
Justice Minister Akın Gürlek said Turkey has submitted 2,950 extradition requests to 119 countries for about 2,765 members of the FETÖ network, updating the dossiers with newly obtained evidence. The highest numbers of requests were sent to Germany (777 files) and the United States (around 700 files), followed by Belgium (142 files).
Gürlek noted that many requests have been rejected or remain pending, citing Interpol’s 2018 decision to treat the cases as politically motivated as a major obstacle. He added that the effort to track and return fugitives will continue under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s leadership.
In a statement to the press, Gürlek said, "Our struggle against the FETÖ betrayal network is relentless, and those responsible will be held accountable before the law."
