Turkey resolves 8 murders in 7 long-standing cold cases

Turkish Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that the Unsolved Crimes Research Department has successfully resolved 8 murders across 7 cold case files. These investigations, which spanned between 3 and 39 years, were made possible through advanced technology, new witness testimonies, and forensic analysis.

Key breakthroughs include the discovery of bone remains in Artvin Şavşat, solving a 39-year-old case involving Nigar Bilgin. In Yozgat, the 21-year-old murder of Hamza Gedik led to the apprehension of 6 suspects. A 19-year-old case in Diyarbakır involving Erhan Kurt also resulted in 6 suspects being detained. In Eskişehir, the death of 2.5-year-old Yakup Bozkurt was resolved after 14 years, leading to the arrest of his father.

Other resolved cases include the 12-year-old disappearance of Köksal Kol and Mehmet Kaplan in Trabzon, the 12-year-old case of Khaled Tayson in Kilis, and the 3-year-old murder of Fehmi Lup in Kayseri. Minister Gürlek stated that the ministry remains committed to ensuring no unsolved file remains in the dark, regardless of how much time has passed.
