Turkey's LGS Preference Period Begins July 13
The 2026 Liselere Geçiş Sistemi (LGS) preference period opened on 13 July and will run until 27 July. Students must use the e‑Okul portal to submit their choices: up to five schools in local placement, ten schools in central placement and five boarding schools, for a maximum of 20 preferences. All submitted lists must be approved by the relevant middle‑school directorates to become valid.
The Ministry of National Education (MEB) provides free “Preference Counseling Units” staffed by guidance teachers and psychologists to help students and parents create balanced lists. Several municipalities – including Beylikdüzü, Kestel and Erzurum – have launched local free‑counseling days offering one‑on‑one support. Initial heavy traffic caused temporary slowdowns on the e‑Okul system, but officials say the issue is due to normal launch‑day load.
Placement results and vacant seats will be published on 5 August, followed by a two‑stage transfer process.
