Turkey launches 2026 Teacher Recruitment Exams (AGS and ÖABT) nationwide
On 26 July 2026 the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) began the first session of the 2026 Ministry of National Education Academy Entrance Exam (AGS) across 81 Turkish provinces and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, using 1 031 buildings and 17 092 rooms. Approximately 391 906 candidates answered 80 multiple‑choice questions in 110 minutes, covering verbal‑numerical ability, history, geography, education sciences and relevant legislation.
The same day the second and final session, the Teacher Field Knowledge Test (ÖABT), started at 14:45. Candidates faced 50 discipline‑specific questions, with a 70‑minute limit for most subjects and 90 minutes for mathematics, physics, chemistry and related fields. Over 308 000 examinees participated, supported by more than 41 000 security and staff personnel. Answer keys for both AGS and ÖABT have not yet been released; ÖSYM traditionally publishes them after the exams conclude.
The exams determine eligibility for teacher contracts, with successful candidates expected to receive placement offers beginning March 2027 and assume positions in the 2027‑2028 academic year.
