Turkey launches 2,400 MW YEKA renewable energy auction

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced the start of the 2026 YEKA (Renewable Energy Resource Area) competition, offering a total of 2,400 MW of new capacity – 1,500 MW from seven wind projects and 900 MW from fourteen solar projects. The government will hold 21 separate auctions, with applications opening on 13 October. The base price is set at €3.25 per MWh for solar and €3.50 per MWh for wind, with a ceiling of €5.50 per MWh. Successful projects will sell electricity on the open market for 60 months (solar) or 72 months (wind) before a 20‑year power purchase agreement begins.

The authority expects the new capacity to accelerate Turkey’s target of 120 GW of wind and solar power by 2035. Connection capacities are earmarked for sites across the country, including Ankara, Batman, Denizli, Konya, Malatya, Mardin, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Kahramanmaraş, Sivas, Balıkesir, Manisa and Kütahya.
