Turkey begins new judicial year with ‘Alo Adalet 135’ launch
Turkey's new judicial year begins on September 1 following the conclusion of the annual judicial recess. The transition marks a return to intensive court schedules, including high-profile cases involving political figures, municipal spending, and criminal investigations.
To improve access to justice, the Ministry of Justice is launching the ‘Alo Adalet 135’ pilot program in Ankara (West), Izmir, and Kayseri. This service allows citizens to track cases that have exceeded five years or investigations exceeding three years via an AI-supported voice assistant or expert representatives.
Legal professionals and bar associations have used the start of the new term to highlight systemic concerns. Discussions have centered on the need for judicial independence, the protection of defense rights against violence, and the impact of delayed trials on public trust. Various regional bar associations have called for reforms regarding attorney economic conditions and the prevention of judicial interference.
