Turkey launches Bir Suru Olsun livestock support project
The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has launched the “Bir Suru Olsun” (Let There Be a Herd) project to support small-scale livestock businesses and increase breeding animal populations. Under this initiative, breeders can apply for packages of pregnant meat-breed female animals and breeding males.
Available packages include options for 15, 25, or 45 animals. For example, the 15-head package consists of 15 pregnant females and one male. Applicants are required to pay a security deposit of 3,000 TL per animal. The Meat and Milk Institution (ESK) is responsible for the procurement, sale, and delivery of the animals.
Applications are open from November 4 to November 13, 2026. Eligible applicants must be Turkish citizens over the age of 18 and cannot be public employees or legal entities. Additionally, the applicant's livestock business must have been registered in the TÜRKVET system for at least one year, and the registered capacity must not exceed 200 head of cattle.
