Turkey launches Bir Suru Olsun livestock support project
The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has launched the “Bir Suru Olsun” (Let There Be a Herd) project to strengthen the breeding stock of livestock enterprises and support small-scale family businesses. Under this initiative, eligible breeders can apply for groups of 16 animals, consisting of 15 pregnant beef cattle heifers and one breeding bull.
Applications are open until November 13, 2026, at local Provincial or District Directorates of Agriculture and Forestry. Applicants must be Turkish citizens over the age of 18, and the project excludes public employees and legal entities. To qualify, the applicant's registered business must have a capacity of no more than 200 head and must have been registered under their name for at least one year.
Participants are required to deposit a guarantee of 3,000 TL per animal into an account specified by the Meat and Milk Institution. The project aims to increase meat production and bolster rural development across regions including Çorum and Manisa.
