Turkey launches digital system to monitor agricultural drought

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's Agricultural Reform General Directorate has launched the Agricultural Drought Monitoring System (TAKİS). The platform consolidates meteorological data, water‑resource indicators and phenological observations, enabling real‑time tracking of agricultural drought at provincial and district levels.

Through digital recording of field observations, the system aims to enhance early detection of drought risks, support climate‑adaptation measures, and provide decision‑makers with fast, reliable data. Online training sessions were held on 27–28 July, attended by about 2,100 technical staff from 81 provinces and 922 districts.
