Turkey launches mobile migration advisory vehicles for students

The Turkish Directorate General of Migration Management has launched the ‘Migration Advisory Vehicles’ program to provide accessible services to foreigners and international students. Introduced at Istanbul University, the initiative aims to bring essential administrative processes directly to university campuses, reducing the need for students to visit provincial migration directorates.

In the initial phase, 42 vehicles will operate across 10 provinces, including Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Sakarya, Eskişehir, Antalya, Bursa, Konya, Karabük, and Kütahya. These mobile units will facilitate address registration, fingerprint collection, information services, and guidance. The program utilizes a portion of the 375 mobile vehicles currently used for irregular migration management.

Authorities plan to expand the service to 40 provinces and increase the fleet to 75 vehicles by the end of the year. Beyond campuses, the service may also be extended to the homes of elderly, disabled, or seriously ill foreigners who face mobility challenges. The initiative is designed to support Turkey’s goal of hosting 1 million international students while easing the workload of migration offices.
