Turkey launches multilingual digital project for Atatürk’s Nutuk
The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism has launched the ‘Nutuk Corpus Project’ to modernize and globalize Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s seminal work, Nutuk. The project aims to make the historical account of the Turkish War of Independence and the founding of the Republic accessible to a wider audience through digital and physical formats.
A new digital platform, nutuk.gov.tr, has been established, offering the text in its original language, modern Turkish, and English. The platform will eventually integrate eight additional languages, including German, French, Russian, Spanish, Persian, Urdu, Kazakh, and Turkmen. It features interactive maps, audio-to-video transitions, and integration with various digital encyclopedias to facilitate research.
To ensure social accessibility, the project includes special formats for individuals with disabilities, such as Braille, sign language, and audio versions. The initiative was prepared by the Atatürk Research Center and supported by the Presidency of Strategy and Budget.
