Turkey launches nationwide reforestation efforts for National Afforestation Day

Turkey is conducting large-scale tree planting activities across various provinces to mark National Afforestation Day on November 11. The İzmir Regional Directorate of Forestry has announced programs in İzmir and Manisa, targeting 38 different locations. In Manisa, districts including Akhisar, Gölmarmara, Kırkağaç, Soma, Saruhanlı, Gördes, Demirci, Köprübaşı, Selendi, and Turgutlu will host events, specifically focusing on re-greening areas damaged by previous forest fires.

Parallel to these efforts, the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) is advancing its “1 Goodness 1 Sapling” campaign. Since its inception in 2021 through a protocol with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the campaign has planted 925,235 saplings across 35 memorial forests in 29 provinces. The initiative, which includes memorial forests for Gaza and earthquake victims, aims to reach a milestone of 1 million saplings following upcoming autumn plantings in provinces such as Nevşehir, Erzincan, Yozgat, Kırıkkale, and Çorum.
