Kayseri transportation: High-speed train project reaches 53% completion
Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has announced significant progress on the Yerköy-Kayseri High-Speed Train (YHT) project. The 142-kilometer double-track, electric, and signaled line is currently 53% complete, with a target opening in the second half of 2028.
Once operational, the project will drastically reduce travel time between Ankara and Kayseri from 7 hours to 1 hour 45 minutes, and connect Kayseri to Istanbul in approximately 5 hours. The line will feature five stations, 22 tunnels, and 27 railway bridges, operating at speeds of up to 250 km/h.
In addition to railway developments, Uraloğlu inaugurated the 3.5-kilometer Ali İhsan Alçı Boulevard in Kayseri, completed by Kocasinan Municipality. The new boulevard is designed to alleviate urban traffic by connecting Osman Kavuncu Boulevard to Erkilet Boulevard, reducing the distance between them by 6.5 kilometers. The project also includes a 7-kilometer bicycle path to promote sustainable transport.
