Turkey launches Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli education reform

Turkey's Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, has announced the launch of the ‘Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli’ (Century of Türkiye Education Model), marking a new era in the nation's educational framework. Speaking at Ankara Social Sciences University during the opening of the ‘Digital Homeland Academy’, Tekin emphasized the necessity of digital transformation and increasing the digital competencies of young people to adapt to the evolving digital age.

The new curriculum aims to balance technical knowledge with values such as national unity, solidarity, and patriotism. In conjunction with these educational shifts, the Digital Homeland Academy is designed to serve as a platform for transferring knowledge in cybersecurity to the youth. Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi noted that the academy will work in cooperation with various institutions to strengthen digital security, following a period where thousands of cybercrime operations were conducted.

Implementation of the model is also reaching regional levels, such as in Kütahya, where teacher training programs for Technology Design courses have commenced. These programs focus on equipping educators with the skills to foster imagination, design, and production capabilities in students, ensuring they can effectively utilize technological advancements.
