Turkey law enforcement detains suspects in FETÖ network probe and Büyükçekmece courthouse robbery

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office opened a terrorism investigation into the FETÖ movement after analysing micro‑SD cards and HTS data from a covert source known as the “Garson” code. The evidence revealed a hierarchical coding system (SAYA, DİL, EA, SC, SCC) used to track members’ loyalty and operational links with “private imams”. Sixteen suspects were identified, eleven of whom were arrested and five placed under judicial control.

In a separate case, two key suspects linked to the theft of 25 kg of gold and 50 kg of silver from the Büyükçekmece Courthouse’s evidence storage were captured after crossing the Sarp border checkpoint from Georgia. Muhammed Efe and Muhammed Seferoğulları were transferred from Artvin to Istanbul, where they were questioned by the Istanbul Police Department’s Theft Bureau and are expected to appear before the court.

Both investigations illustrate Turkish authorities’ ongoing efforts to curb organized crime and alleged extremist networks.
