Turkey hosts Lithuania in FIBA 2027 World Cup Qualifier

The Turkey Men's National Basketball Team is set to host Lithuania in Istanbul for their first match of the second round in the FIBA 2027 World Cup European Qualifiers. The game will take place at the Turkcell Basketball Development Center.

Turkey enters the second round in Group J with a significant advantage, having completed the first round undefeated with a 6-0 record. Lithuania enters the group with a 3-3 record from the first round. This upcoming match marks the 13th official meeting between the two nations; historically, Lithuania has won nine of their 12 previous encounters, while Turkey has won three.

Head coach Ergin Ataman noted that the team will face challenges due to the absence of key players like Alperen Şengün and Shane Larkin, but emphasized the importance of the upcoming window. Following the Lithuania match, Turkey is scheduled to play Iceland on August 31.
