Türkiye qualifies for 2027 FIBA World Cup with win over Iceland

The Türkiye Men's National Basketball Team has officially qualified for the FIBA 2027 World Cup after a dominant 110-73 victory over Iceland in Reykjavik. The win marks Türkiye's eighth consecutive victory in the European Qualifiers, making them the first team to secure a spot in the tournament.

Led by head coach Ergin Ataman, Türkiye maintained control throughout the match at the Laugardalshöll Sports Center. Key performances included 17 points each from Cedi Osman and Onuralp Bitim, alongside strong contributions from Malachi Flynn (13 points) and Kenan Sipahi (15 points). Türkiye entered the game with an undefeated record and remains the only unbeaten team in the European Qualifiers.

With this qualification, Türkiye will participate in the 2027 World Cup to be held in Qatar for the sixth time in its history. Their next scheduled matches include a game against Italy on November 26 and a home game against Iceland on November 29.
