Turkey Ministry of Family and Social Services issues winter directive

The Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Services has issued a nationwide directive to protect homeless and destitute citizens during the upcoming winter season. Signed by Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, the instruction has been sent to governorships, provincial directorates, and Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations across all 81 provinces.

Under the directive, authorities are tasked with identifying individuals living on the streets without shelter. To ensure no one remains outdoors during freezing temperatures, the ministry will utilize public guesthouses and contracted hotels to provide accommodation.

Support extends beyond housing to include essential needs such as food, clothing, hygiene, and healthcare. Additionally, the ministry plans to provide psychosocial support to help mitigate the social and psychological difficulties faced by those in need.
