Turkey Ministry of Family and Social Services provides SED education support
The Ministry of Family and Social Services in Turkey continues to provide Social and Economic Support (SED) payments to low-income families struggling with school expenses. The program aims to ensure children can remain with their families and continue their education without interruption.
Monthly assistance amounts are tiered based on the child's educational level. For preschool education, the monthly payment is 6,592.39 TL. Primary and middle school students receive 9,888.58 TL, while high school students receive 10,547.82 TL. The highest tier, reaching 11,866.30 TL, is designated for students in higher education who are under protection or care decisions.
Eligibility is not automatic for all families with children. To qualify, families must fall below the threshold of significant social and economic need. The program targets children who are at risk of being placed in social service institutions but could remain with their families if provided with financial support, as well as families facing extreme hardship due to natural disasters, catastrophes, or the severe illness or workplace accidents of the head of the household. Applications are processed through the e-Devlet platform, followed by social investigations conducted by ministry experts.
