Turkey Ministry of National Defense reports border security updates

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced that two members of the PKK terrorist organization surrendered during the past week. In terms of border security, authorities apprehended 422 individuals attempting illegal crossings, one of whom was identified as a member of a terrorist organization. Since January 1, the total number of people caught attempting illegal crossings has reached 14,629, while 57,855 individuals have been prevented from crossing.

Regarding regional developments, the Ministry expressed support for the Iraqi central government's efforts to strengthen state authority and ensure normalization in the Sinjar region. Additionally, the MSB noted the recent approval of the 2019 maritime jurisdiction agreement between Turkey and Libya by the Libyan House of Representatives. The Ministry indicated readiness to sign a similar maritime delimitation agreement with Egypt based on mutual interests.
