Turkey Ministry of National Education launches school security audits
The Turkish Ministry of National Education is initiating comprehensive security audits across schools nationwide to ensure a safe educational environment. Starting next week, inspectors from the Board of Inspection will conduct on-site evaluations based on the newly published ‘Safe School Climate Audit Guide’.
The audits will focus on several key areas, including the effectiveness of School Security Management Teams, the maintenance of risk maps, and the execution of emergency evacuation drills. Physical security measures, such as controlled entry systems, visitor registration, and the functionality of surveillance cameras, will be strictly reviewed. Notably, security camera footage must be stored for a minimum of 30 days.
Furthermore, inspectors will verify the criminal records and training certifications of all personnel in direct contact with students, including canteen workers, cleaning staff, private security, and school bus drivers. The process also aims to address digital threats and social issues such as peer bullying, neglect, and addiction through guidance services.
