Turkey celebrates Amateur Sports Week with nationwide events

Amateur Sports Week has commenced across various provinces in Turkey, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Amateur Sports Clubs Confederation. The week-long event aims to promote physical activity, increase awareness of sports, and encourage participation across all age groups.

In cities such as Sinop, Mersin, Edirne, Osmaniye, Adana, and Muş, celebrations included wreath-laying ceremonies, parades, and various sporting demonstrations. Activities range from traditional festivals and marches to specific competitions in football, basketball, volleyball, archery, and athletics. In Muş Bulanık, a traditional sports festival featured diverse disciplines including mini-golf and tug-of-war, while Edirne scheduled a wide array of events including cycling tours and chess tournaments.

Local officials emphasized that amateur sports serve as a vital educational tool for youth, fostering discipline, teamwork, and social development. In Sivas, local amateur clubs are also looking toward potential municipal support to sustain their activities and infrastructure for the new season.
