Turkey observes Mosques and Religious Officials Week

Turkey is observing Mosques and Religious Officials Week under the theme ‘Mosques and Social Life.’ The week highlights the role of religious personnel, including imams, muezzins, and Quran instructors, in both spiritual and social spheres.

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi issued a message titled ‘Service Extending from the Mihrab to Hearts,’ praising religious officials for their contributions to the nation's spiritual life and their role in preserving religious traditions. He expressed gratitude to those dedicated to serving the community and the Quran.

In a separate statement, Kıpçak emphasized that religious officials provide essential services beyond mosques, including work in hospitals, prisons, and nursing homes. Kıpçak called for the recognition of their efforts and noted that Diyanet-Sen is working to address ongoing issues such as housing shortages, transfer system irregularities, and the improvement of financial and social rights for these workers.
