Turkey observes traditional circumcision ceremonies and medical services

Various regional events and health reports in Turkey highlight the ongoing practice of traditional circumcision ceremonies and medical services.

In Muratpaşa, the municipality organized its 12th traditional ceremony, providing services for 122 children aged 5 to 12. Mayor Ümit Uysal emphasized the importance of social solidarity and the role of such services in supporting families amidst current economic conditions.

In Erzincan, the General Directorate of Foundations held a ceremony for 25 children, upholding a 500-year-old tradition established by Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II. Officials noted that similar programs have been implemented across all Turkish cities over the past three years to preserve this cultural heritage.

Additionally, in Erzurum, Governor Aydın Baruş visited the urology department of Erzurum City Hospital. He noted that the hospital has performed 1,460 successful circumcisions this year and urged families to ensure such procedures are conducted by specialists in hospital environments to prevent health complications.
