Turkey Official Gazette issues new education and sports regulations

The Official Gazette published on August 10, 2026, introduced several regulatory changes affecting education, sports, and university administration.

In the education sector, new regulations for Galatasaray University institutions have been enacted. Students graduating from Galatasaray Middle School must now rank within the top 4% in the central exam (LGS) to transition directly to Galatasaray High School. Additionally, terminology in the regulations has been updated to align with current educational legislation.

A new Athlete Health Reports Regulation, jointly prepared by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has also come into effect. Under this regulation, health reports for sports licenses are now valid for three years, unless a physician specifies otherwise, while health status documents remain valid for one year. Applications can be processed electronically via e-Devlet or Ministry systems.

Regarding higher education, multiple research and application centers at Selçuk University have had their regulations repealed, including centers focused on nuclear materials, automotive technologies, and international migration. Meanwhile, Yeditepe University has updated the regulations governing its Learning, Teaching, and Distance Education Center.
