Turkey Official Gazette issues decrees on national parks and expropriations

The Turkish Official Gazette published numerous presidential decrees on August 31, 2026, covering administrative, environmental, and economic sectors.

Key environmental and academic changes include the designation of the Van Gölü Deveboynu Peninsula as a National Park, spanning the Gevaş district of Van and the Tatvan district of Bitlis. Additionally, several universities underwent restructuring, including the establishment, closure, or renaming of various faculties and institutes.

Significant expropriation orders were issued for energy and mining projects. TEİAŞ will proceed with expropriations for 154 kV energy transmission lines in Niğde and Konya. In Ankara and Sakarya, the EPDK will manage urgent expropriations for natural gas facilities. Furthermore, Eti Maden has been authorized to expropriate 258 properties in Eskişehir’s Sivrihisar and Beylikova districts to facilitate mining for thorium, barite, fluorite, and rare earth elements.

Other administrative updates include the establishment of the Ağrı Provincial Environmental Services Union and amendments to drug control legislation.
